More press coverage for the upcoming Turkey Feed. Next week we will be the feature story on K-Love and Air1, and the Modesto Bee is running a three part piece culminating with a massive shoot on Wednesday live from the Feed. All this to show how we are uniting community together, for the greatest cause of all.

Project Community gets Corporate Sponsors
Project Community has now picked up two new sponsors for our efforts at bringing community together for our Turkey Feed: Buffalo Wild Wings and DEWZ Modesto. Watch as the movement continues to spread and get in on the action while you still can!
Community Unites to Feed Families
Thanksgiving is a special time where we celebrate the many blessings that have been poured out on us. In deed, there is a lot to be thankful for. But the reality is that for many families, Thanksgiving is a difficult time. Many are reminded of just how hard of a year it has been and some aren’t seeing a way out. We would like to curb those thoughts and bring hope to those hurting, and we think you do as well.
In years past, we have handed out cooked meals or bags of non-perishable items. Through this process, a new thought arose- How can we do things better; different? What if we can bring the community together to achieve a common goal (much like we have done through our Backpacks Drives for Kids and our recent Clothes Closet)? We know that times are more than rough and people are struggling, and as a church, we want to be leaders in supporting families.
Therefore, on the day before Thanksgiving (November 24th, 2010), our church will be leading a completely different kind of project for the community. We will be gathering community members on the campus of the church from 1000a-500p, where we can all cook Thanksgiving meals together, and give to everyone as they have need. This project is for everyone.
If someone has a need for their family, they can come down and cook their family a meal as well as help cook another family’s meal. If someone has more than enough for their own family, they can give back by cooking alongside those who don’t have anything. What this does is bring together those that have resources with those that do not, and shows how we are all united in this struggle, as a community, and how joy arises from that.
Come see this incredible project Wednesday, November 24, 2010 from 1000a to 500p, as we unite our community to feed families!

Dozens of volunteers, even more donors and close to a ton (literally) of clothes became available to our community this past Sunday. The end result: The needs of over 100 families (that’s a conservative estimate) were met as they carried off bags of clothing that would take care of their families for months to come.
More than that, we helped foster community on a deeper level and helped stage another success in the future. Thank you to all who took part in this venture and keep an eye out for the next big thing to hit Project Community.
Staging Day
After two weeks of gathering clothing for the free community wide clothing distribution (Sunday, October 31, 2010), it took four hours of unpacking, sorting and staging to get ready. Really, it’s crazy to think what a community can do when they team up together to accomplish a goal. It all happens Sunday now.

Community Clothes Closet*
Need a little extra help this year with clothes? Do your kids need a winter coat or just a few items to make a wardrobe? Perhaps you might even need a few things. As a church and community, we want you to know we are all together in this. We are meant to meet one another’s needs.
That’s what we’re doing this Sunday. It all starts at 1100a at Prescott Church. First come; first serve. Take whatever you need. Everything from women’s blouses to men’s pants. Kids clothing and even items for infants. So tell your friends; tell your neighbors. Let’s do this, together!
Clothes Closet: Meet A Need
We created more community bridges with the backpack drive (this year and last), we brought more of our neighbors on board by providing arenas for everyone to become involved in serving their community, and here we are now: standing on yet another precipice where even more can become a part of a community wide solution, where Christ is the center.
Jumping off the encouraging success of the “Have A Need? Meet A Need?” backpack drive, we are continuing our serve in another way. What we’re asking now is that you partner with us as we provide outerwear for those in our community who can use our assistance.
Here’s how you can partner with us:
We’re kicking this event off Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 1100a, at Prescott Church. If you can partner with us anytime leading up to the event, during the event or afterward, we would love to serve alongside you. For more info, email Russ Cantu or call the church office at 209-529-7200. In the meantime, you can schedule a time to drop off your items at the church. All donations need to be received by Oct 28th.
WE DID IT!!!
Over a dozen families and twenty-six students later, we have accomplished our shared goal of supplying backpacks for students at Prescott Senior Elementary School, and beyond.
What really makes this a success is that we were able to create a greater bond between church and school, bring awareness to our community and generate new opportunities for others to become involved in the future.
Because of this success, we will be launching two new projects, one on October and another in November. Two more opportunities to meet needs. Two more opportunities to bring community together. Two more opportunities to show everyone that we belong to one another.
To participate in a MEET A NEED Project, send off an email to let us know how you would like to contribute.
