For the past few months, we have been discussing the methods and means we have been using to reach and help transform our church and communities. From this, we have developed a new strategy that will allow for cooperative effort to be formed in order to accomplish the goals God has given us.

What does this look like?

We have a team of volunteers leading the charge, under the direction of pastor Russ Cantu.

We have an identified process: how the leadership team will begin the process of community wide transformation

We have identified target areas: communities in which we see God moving and shaking.

What are the next steps in this process?

Our team will be coordinating with church small group and adult bible fellowship leaders in order to create a church-wide ownership of the process.

Our team will coordinate a massive survey process throughout the target areas in order to determine community assets and leaders.

Our team will identify assets and leaders from the survey results and begin to set a process for how we can accomplish a singular goal with identified community leaders, alongside the people of the target zones.

If you have any questions or wish to be a part of the process, email Russ.

A short synopsis of the soccer camp hosted by Prescott Church...

A short synopsis of the soccer camp hosted by Prescott Church and sponsored by Sports Authority, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Soccer Pro and Visual Horizons. Why? We don’t do this FOR community; we do this WITH community. Because it’s all about a shared vision. We all own this thing we call Prescott. So let’s do this together. As one. United in purpose and cause.

At our recent clothes closet we sat, ate and drank (coffee of course) with our community members and picked their brains. How can Prescott Church come alongside you and your family in order to shape your future with God at the center?

This week: Discussing the answers to that question and seeing how we can all move forward as one.

In total, over 200 people were sent home with meals for their families. It’s been amazing to see the community embrace a new way of doing things: WITH community and not FOR community.

We had over 100 volunteers throughout the day, who were there for no other reason that to say we support you, as individuals and as a community. Our 200 plus event participants gladly served alongside of those who just came to be a willing hand.

The end game: Our community is showing up for one another, and people are noticing.

This is the interview that is now playing for over 5 million...

This is the interview that is now playing for over 5 million listeners at K-Love and Air1 this week.

Modesto Bee Article

Modesto Bee Article

More press coverage for the upcoming Turkey Feed.
Project Community has now picked up two new sponsors for our efforts at bringing community together for our Turkey Feed: Buffalo Wild Wings and DEWZ Modesto. Watch as the movement continues to spread and get in on the action while you still can!

PRESS RELEASE: Community Turkey Feed

Community Unites to Feed Families

Thanksgiving is a special time where we celebrate the many blessings that have been poured out on us. In deed, there is a lot to be thankful for. But the reality is that for many families, Thanksgiving is a difficult time. Many are reminded of just how hard of a year it has been and some aren’t seeing a way out. We would like to curb those thoughts and bring hope to those hurting, and we think you do as well.

In years past, we have handed out cooked meals or bags of non-perishable items. Through this process, a new thought arose- How can we do things better; different? What if we can bring the community together to achieve a common goal (much like we have done through our Backpacks Drives for Kids and our recent Clothes Closet)? We know that times are more than rough and people are struggling, and as a church, we want to be leaders in supporting families.

Therefore, on the day before Thanksgiving (November 24th, 2010), our church will be leading a completely different kind of project for the community. We will be gathering community members on the campus of the church from 1000a-500p, where we can all cook Thanksgiving meals together, and give to everyone as they have need. This project is for everyone.

If someone has a need for their family, they can come down and cook their family a meal as well as help cook another family’s meal. If someone has more than enough for their own family, they can give back by cooking alongside those who don’t have anything. What this does is bring together those that have resources with those that do not, and shows how we are all united in this struggle, as a community, and how joy arises from that.

Come see this incredible project Wednesday, November 24, 2010 from 1000a to 500p, as we unite our community to feed families!

The end result: The needs of over 100 families (that’s a conservative estimate) were met as they carried off bags of clothing that would take care of their families for months to come.

More than that, we helped foster community on a deeper level and helped stage another success in the future. Thank you to all who took part in this venture and keep an eye out for the next big thing to hit Project Community.

Staging Day

After two weeks of gathering clothing for the free community wide clothing distribution (Sunday, October 31, 2010), it took four hours of unpacking, sorting and staging to get ready. Really, it’s crazy to think what a community can do when they team up together to accomplish a goal. It all happens Sunday now.

Clothes Closet, final push

OCT 31, 2010 // Starting at 1100a

Community Clothes Closet*

Need a little extra help this year with clothes? Do your kids need a winter coat or just a few items to make a wardrobe? Perhaps you might even need a few things. As a church and community, we want you to know we are all together in this. We are meant to meet one another’s needs.

That’s what we’re doing this Sunday. It all starts at 1100a at Prescott Church. First come; first serve. Take whatever you need. Everything from women’s blouses to men’s pants. Kids clothing and even items for infants. So tell your friends; tell your neighbors. Let’s do this, together!

We created more community bridges...

Clothes Closet: Meet A Need

We created more community bridges with the backpack drive (this year and last), we brought more of our neighbors on board by providing arenas for everyone to become involved in serving their community, and here we are now: standing on yet another precipice where even more can become a part of a community wide solution, where Christ is the center.

Jumping off the encouraging success of the “Have A Need? Meet A Need?” backpack drive, we are continuing our serve in another way. What we’re asking now is that you partner with us as we provide outerwear for those in our community who can use our assistance.

Here’s how you can partner with us:

You can donate your gently used clothing of all sizes

You can provide administrative assistance

You can coordinate volunteers before, during and after event

You can create connections with community members who are seeking our assistance

You can be that special volunteer that will do whatever, whenever, just because we asked

We’re kicking this event off Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 1100a, at Prescott Church. If you can partner with us anytime leading up to the event, during the event or afterward, we would love to serve alongside you. For more info, email Russ Cantu or call the church office at 209-529-7200. In the meantime, you can schedule a time to drop off your items at the church. All donations need to be received by Oct 28th.

"MEET A NEED: There are no phases."

“MEET A NEED: There are no phases.”

- This thing just keeps growing.

Over a dozen families and twenty-six students later, we have accomplished our shared goal of supplying backpacks for students at Prescott Senior Elementary School, and beyond.

What really makes this a success is that we were able to create a greater bond between church and school, bring awareness to our community and generate new opportunities for others to become involved in the future.

Because of this success, we will be launching two new projects, one on October and another in November. Two more opportunities to meet needs. Two more opportunities to bring community together. Two more opportunities to show everyone that we belong to one another.

To participate in a MEET A NEED Project, send off an email to let us know how you would like to contribute.
