‘Be the Influence’ workshop from Pelham Art Center and Project Community teaches teens to use their creativity to stop doom-scrolling
Project Community partnered with the Pelham Art Center to host “Be the Influence,” a workshop attended by more than 20 teenagers that was focused on social media use and its effects on teen mental health. Project Community is a local nonprofit that provides creative, specialized services for youth and teens around managing anxiety, self awareness, and how to handle difficult situations.
“Project Community and Pelham Art Center wanted to create something that didn’t feel like a lecture,” said Joanna McCormick from Project Community. “Instead, we focused on giving teens real tools, helping them understand concepts like emotional drugging, brain drain, and the webs of worry that can develop with prolonged screen use.”
