At the Kick-Off Party, guests enjoyed a night of delicious food, refreshing drinks, and live music by Dos Décadas—all in celebration of four decades of work by an organization dedicated to improving the lives of parents and children with special needs, as well as empowering teens through impactful programs. These initiatives provide critical knowledge to help youth make healthier, more informed choices—particularly when it comes to underage drinking and sexual misconduct involving alcohol.
We were honored to welcome our special guest, celebrity auctioneer 2-time New York Giant Super Bowl Champion Zak DeOssie. Some of the remarkable auction items included a Montauk vacation home, a Lake George vacation home, luxury tickets to New York sporting events, and much more!
The 2025 Color Run on Sunday May 18 drew a crowd of over 600 participants. From families with strollers to seasoned runners, attendees of all ages took part in the 2.5 mile course, getting showered in color powder by sponsors and teen volunteers. Live music, food trucks, the Pelham Manor Fire Department and other local community organizations added to the festive atmosphere waiting at the run's conclusion at Siwanoy Elementary School.
Joe Solimine Sr., who has a long history with the organization, led a spirited countdown to kick off the race. After the race, NY State Senator Nathalia Fernandez and Project Community Founder Anne DuVal Frost, Ph.D., R.N., presented three local teens with awards. Samantha Shekane received the Charles Fazzino Award of the Heart, which recognizes generosity of spirit, creativity and community; Sophia Greco received an award recognizing her efforts designing this year’s Color Run t-shirt; and, Anna Roberts received an award celebrating her science research efforts related to Project Community’s teen programming.
The overwhelming turnout and positive energy reflected the community’s commitment to coming together for a meaningful cause. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all participants, volunteers, sponsors, and partners who made the event possible.
